How To Make Straight Hair Curly Without Heat
The big luscious curls are absolutely something many people strive toward. Though using a wand or flat iron does give you that wavy look, heat isn't the only way to get yourself some flippy curls. So is there any way to curl your hair without ending up with damage? Here’s a list of different ways you can achieve gorgeous runway curls, without any damage.
Wear a Sock-Bun Overnight
This is a creative but effective method: cut the tip off of an old sock and roll it up to get a doughnut shape.
Once you have your sock bun, pull your ponytail through the hole, and then pull sections of your hair through it to create a large bun. Again, let the bun sit overnight, and pull your hair out to get gorgeous wavy locks.
Twist Your Hair
This French twist technique is a super easy way to achieve salon-like waves. Twist sections of your hair over each other and gather the twists into little buns. You should leave the twist braids in for at least six hours, and then gently pull them out to get the final look.
Brushing out your hair afterwards will actually make your hair frizzier, so simply use your fingertips to detangle your locks.
Use A Simple Headband
All you need for this method is a good old headband and a texturizing product. Put your headband on over your hair, Coachella-style, and dampen your locks with texture spray.
Twist pieces of your hair and tuck them into the headband — you should end up with a funky updo situation. Add even more dampness to that updo and wait a few hours (or overnight) for your hair to completely dry. Then, unwrap your hair and you should have luscious curls.
Roll Your Hair In Soft Curlers Overnight
Purchase soft curling rollers at a beauty supply store. Choose small rollers if you’d like tighter curls, or large roller for loose waves. Wrap your damp hair in the rollers before bed and secure them in place with clips.
Unroll your hair from the rollers in the morning and spray your hair with hairspray for curls that last all day.
Although heat treating is definitely a quick and easy way to create curls, you might not want to do it every day. Depending on the length and natural texture of your hair, its ability to hold curl, and your personal preference, you may find that some heatless curling methods work better than others. Best of all, you’ll be saving your hair a whole lot of heat damage and over time, your natural texture will get more manageable.
